Doreen Hogans

President Elect

Biography: Doreen Hogans is a seasoned educational leader with nearly 30 years of service in public K–12 education. She began her career in Baltimore County Public Schools as a high school classroom teacher before transitioning to Prince George’s County Public Schools. After ten years of exemplary classroom instruction, she transitioned into the role of professional school counselor, where she deepened her commitment to student advocacy and postsecondary readiness. 

Ms. Hogans currently serves as the Supervisor for the Office of School Counseling, Section 504 Services, and the International Admissions and Enrollment Office for Prince George’s County Public Schools. In this capacity, she provides strategic leadership for multiple departments, overseeing system wide initiatives that promote academic achievement, equitable access to services, post secondary readiness and social-emotional well-being. 

A doctoral candidate at Walden University, Ms. Hogans integrates research-driven practices with a focus on culturally responsive leadership and inclusive excellence. She is especially committed to advancing outcomes for historically underserved student populations. In addition to her professional roles, she is the proud mother of two teenage daughters and an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated—demonstrating her lifelong dedication to leadership, scholarship, and service. 

The Position Details: The President Elect is a three year cycle. You start as President Elect (preparation to take on the role of President), then President (The President shall be the chief elected officer of the Association, shall preside at all meetings of the Association and shall preside at all meetings of the Executive Board, shall appoint the chairs of all committees, and shall be ex-offico member of all committees, except the Nominations and Elections Committee. The president or their designee shall be the representative on the Maryland Association for Counseling and Development Executive Council and shall be a Maryland School Counselor Association delegate to the American School Counselor Association Delegate Assembly.), then Past-President (support the current President).
