Biography: 
Doreen Hogans is a transformative school counseling leader with 31 years of experience advancing student success through strategic leadership, systems change, and comprehensive school counseling programs. As Supervisor of School Counseling for Prince George's County Public Schools, she provides visionary leadership for initiatives that strengthen college and career readiness, expand educational access, and promote equitable outcomes for students across one of the nation's largest school districts.
 

A nationally recognized advocate for comprehensive school counseling, Doreen is committed to building data-informed systems that empower school counselors to maximize their impact. Her work focuses on aligning counseling programs with the ASCA National Model®, the Maryland Blueprint for Education, and district strategic priorities to improve academic achievement, college and career readiness, and student well-being.

Doreen is serving the second year of her two-year term as President-Elect of the Maryland School Counselor Association (MSCA) and is a doctoral candidate at Walden University, where her research focuses on educational leadership and systemic improvement. She also serves on the Middle States Regional Council and the College Board CSS/Financial Aid Assembly Council, contributing to state and national conversations on college access and student success. A certified social-emotional learning practitioner, Doreen is a sought-after presenter on educational leadership, accountability, college and career readiness, and comprehensive school counseling program development.

Position Details: 
The President Elect is a three year cycle. You start as President Elect (preparation to take on the role of President), then President (The President shall be the chief elected officer of the Association, shall preside at all meetings of the Association and shall preside at all meetings of the Executive Board, shall appoint the chairs of all committees, and shall be ex-offico member of all committees, except the Nominations and Elections Committee. The president or their designee shall be the representative on the Maryland Association for Counseling and Development Executive Council and shall be a Maryland School Counselor Association delegate to the American School Counselor Association Delegate Assembly.), then Past-President (support the current President).
