Tina Ramirez-Holmes
Treasurer
Biography:
Tina Ramirez-Holmes started her journey as an educator in 2014 as a math teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools. During her time teaching pre-algebra, she realized that what she loved most about her job was helping students persevere and work hard to meet their goals. In 2019 Tina decided to pursue a school counseling degree because she wanted to help students learn skills like perseverance and conflict resolution so that they could use these skills independently in solving their problems. In 2022, Tina was in her final semester of internship and her supervisor at the time was the Treasurer of MSCA, Xiomara Medina. Tina admired Xiomara’s passion for her role in MSCA, advocating for the importance that school counselors play in schools. Xiomara encouraged Tina to run for Treasurer in the following elections because of Tina’s dedication towards student advocacy and her drive to help remove barriers to students' success. Tina’s greatest values are integrity, empathy, and having a growth mindset. Tina had also been a math teacher for eight years, so she was well versed in numbers! Tina is a very organized, reflective and driven person who always wants to do her best. Working in the role as the Treasurer for MSCA was a great fit for her, so she ran in 2023 and has been the Treasurer ever since.
As Treasurer, Tina loves working together with school counselors across Maryland to be a collective voice that advocates for all school counselors, using the ASCA national model as the foundation. Tina is also an elementary school counselor in Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Outside of her school counselor roles, Tina loves playing soccer, running in races across Maryland, taking Spanish lessons, and going on daily walks with her husband and their dog, Bear! 🙂
